BiocatCodeExpander

BiocatCodeExpander is a Dutch European Doctoral Network dedicated to expanding protein functional diversity through non-canonical amino acids for biocatalysis and enzyme engineering. The consortium unites experts from synthetic biology, computational biology, structural biology, and organic chemistry across 18 institutions to develop collaborative methodologies with strong private sector participation.

• Innovation: Focuses on developing better tools for in vivo and in vitro non-canonical amino acid incorporation to achieve production efficiency required for successful applications.
• Services: Offers novel strategies for coupling chemistry, site-specific enzyme immobilization, and de novo biocatalyst design using non-canonical amino acids as building blocks.
• Industries: Targets the fields of biotechnology and industrial biotechnology by applying these advanced methods to improve catalytic properties or install new-to-nature activities in enzymes.

The network aims to create means with a positive impact on biocatalysis while training scientists through its doctoral candidates working at various academic and industrial partners.
